Artist’s Statement
Every thing we do is an opportunity to take a journey. Why turn on a
lamp when you can energize an Arcturan interstellar probe or fire up part
of a century old tungsten mine? I strive to create everyday artifacts with
non-everyday personalities. If you’re not asking yourself “what does this
thing want of me?” I haven’t done my job.
I resurrect fossils from the Age of Machines, some with histories going
back a century or more, and mine them for their inner substance. These
machines were forged during the industrial age with skillful creativity. In
my small Seattle studio, I write new chapters into their story.
